Clare Summerskill
Clare is a writer, comedienne, actress and singer/songwriter and academic. Her comedy writing and cabaret material mainly address LGBT lifestyles, and her theatre company, Artemis, produces plays that reflect stories of those from marginalised communities. She has written about the memories and history of older LGBT people in her book, Gateway to Heaven, and about the mental health system in her play Hearing Voices. Clare’s latest play At the Rainbow’s End, based on interviews with older LGBT people’s experiences of homophobia and transphobia in care settings, is on in June 2024 at The Courtyard Theatre near Old Street.
