Music Director - Mich Sampson
Mich teaches choral singing and musicianship at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA), where she also runs two choirs and acts as Musical Director for student productions. She has directed various college and community choirs, and most recently worked with Wimbledon Choral Society in 2010-11 (through an apprenticeship awarded by the Association of British Choral Directors).
As a singer, Mich has taken solo roles in oratorio and operetta, and also performs regularly as pianist-singer with folk duo Playing Rapunzel. She has appeared on CD with Playing Rapunzel, alternative songwriter Talis Kimberley, and author Seanan McGuire, as well as on her own album of original songs, which raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK. Mich has been guest of honour at filk [sic] conventions in the USA and UK and shortlisted for the international 'Best Performer' Pegasus filk award six times.
A lover of Jewish music, Mich founded and currently directs Tav Rishon, the Jewish training choir, and is cantor at Beit Klal Yisrael, a Liberal Jewish community which “recognises the true diversity of Jewish experience.” She is therefore delighted to join another community that similarly celebrate diversity in both its membership and repertoire.
